HEAD SOMMELIER – LORIS SAIN
Loris was born in Trieste, NE of Italy & close to Venice.
Loris’ passion for food drove him to attend a specialised Hospitality School at the early age of fifteen. Inspired by a teacher there, Loris trained to become a professional waiter.
Loris was driven by his passion for wine and dedicated his ongoing development to become a certified Sommelier by the age of 22 and still continues with research, training and development in this field.
In 2001 Loris had the opportunity to work for one of the most important prestigious restaurants in Italy. For six years Loris was Head Sommelier & Maître d’ Hotel at Ristorante Perbellini, a two-Michelin star restaurant in Verona.
Loris then moved into the Head Maitr d’ role at Dal Pescatore in Canneto sull’Oglio, boasting three Michelin stars.
In 2008 Loris decided to explore his love for Australian wine and moved here as Head Wine Buyer D.O.C. Group. In 2011 Loris joined Made Establishment as Head Sommelier at MamaBaba, and then moved into Head Sommelier at the prestigious Press Club, alongside George Calombaris.
Loris has now found his long term home at Grosvenor Hotel, and after 24 years in the industry is still driven by the same love, dedication and thirst for knowledge. Pun intended.
